Which way to go?

Ok so now I'm torn between getting a new Pro Tools MBox Mini studio setup($399) or grabbing this hot new American Audio VMS4 DJ controller($499). Wifey wants to get into Deejaying so it will be like a new thing for her too. I want to record and do alot of other stuff as well. She says I'm not focused! We'll figure it out one way or the other. Win-win situation either way. I'll either get the VMS4 now and wait to get the studio stuff later,or get the Pro tools stuff now and the VMS4 too!

Back to the Lab!

Me and wifey went to my old friend Demaurio's studio last night. Nice setup. This dude is Hungry! I can see the drive to get his music out there is strong. I want the Mbox setup now! Wifey still wants to get the American Audio VMS4(the new hotness!) I want that plus any Akai MPC for my birthday next week. Patience.

It's MY Friday! (posted on a Thursday)

What a week this has been. I got a parking ticket on Wednesday. The last time I got one was about 9 months ago. I am usually good about stuff like that but that day I was so tired and definetly not firing on all cylinders. Also that same day, the spot where I usually park was taken up by my neighbor's big "scooby-doo style" van. Long story short, the tree in front of my spot uprooted and fell on the van! Wow! That would have been my car any other day of the week. Eye-opening situation for me. The city of LBC came by,cut it up and hauled it away. My guess is they are going to paint his van for him. It left a mark on his roof so damage wasn't too bad-but bad enough to notice. I saw the aftermath of an accident at the traffic circle on my way to pick up the kids from school. A grey Jeep Grand Cherokee was on its side and the driver was a big guy and he was right next to the vehicle being treated for injuries. Looky-loos were clogging up the road in every direction so that made me a few minutes late getting the young'ns. To top it off, I got returned mailed applications back from the L.A. County Recorder(fictitious business name statement)and the VA (Certificate of eligibility). Both of them said I left something off. "Great" now I have to send them again and wait a little longer than expected. Whatever. I've been looking at some studio packages and DJ equipment lately. I'm sold on the Mbox2 Mini package($399)and the American Audio VMS4/Harbinger APS15 powered monitors at Guitar Center. It looks like the best bang for the buck. I already put some layaway money down so it's on! I can hardly wait.

Time to step my game up...

Every now and then I get a sign or something happens where I get that nudge to step my game up. Whether it be a eye opening movie, someone says something profound or whatever. I just realized the importance of staying focused. I also updated my wishlist at Guitar Center.

In my dream the other day...083020101736

In my dream the other day, I drank about 6 cups of coffee and in a caffeine-induced frenzy, decided that it was a good time to go workout on “the hill.” The plan was first, to load up my phone with the latest, hottest, most inspirational playlist music known to man. The list turned out to be around 1,800 songs deep with CD sound quality settings. That’s way too many songs being synced to sit and watch happen in real time. Doing that would be like watching some grass grow. So I setup a quick playlist and plugged my phone in the USB port and clicked “sync”. Well the computer started buzzing away syncing the files one at a time and after about an hour or so, I checked on the progress meter and it was done. Without glancing at the playlist or testing for bad files, I grabbed my phone, keys and a pair of shades that I got from the dollar store earlier that day. I was on my way to “the hill” hyped from the buzz of excitement that comes with listening to some feel good music. I arrive at “the hill” and quickly unload my things not needed for the next hour or so. I grab my water bottle, phone and earbuds. I start the media player on my phone, click play and the first track was pretty good so I listen to the whole 4:20 of it. Next 5 tracks are good too and I think to myself with that echoic, inside my head voice,”This has got to be the latest, hottest, most inspirational playlist music known to man!” No doubt this was a skip-free playlist! Well, so far... After about 30 minutes or more, the next track to play was a bit disturbing. Dead silence for about 6-10 seconds then a faint barely audible woman’s voice said “turn left.” Now remember, I told you earlier that I drank about 6 cups of coffee in this dream so, keep that in mind for the next segment.

I don't like missing events with my folks. This video work does not stop! I thought I could juggle more than a couple of tasks yesterday but oh well...I just better make sure the next event does not get skipped!

Thoughts and ramblings 08272010

This is probably the only way for me to consistently "blog". I am trying to improve myself and create a business that helps people at the same time. I may rant or express myself from time to time. On the rare occassion that I offend anyone during these writings, -my bad- I'm sayin' "MY BAD" because I will not apologize for being honest.
